Jack is a dedicated researcher of auto immune diseases and disorders, with an intense focus on neuroimmunology. Jack has spent the past 16 years committed to the eradication of suffering from neurodegeneration. His absence of formal medical training has allowed him to explore, and discover, methods, and opportunities, as well as creation and maturation of new molecular entities to arrest disease.
Jack's motivation stems from familial relationships with multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's Disease, pulmonary fibrosis, colon cancer, Parkinson's Disease, and mast cell activation syndrome.
Dr. Brown has been Professor of Microbiology-Immunology at Northwestern University, Fienberg School of Medicine, since 2003. Dr. Brown has been the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) Associate Director since 2017.
Dr. Brown received her doctorate in Microbiology-Immunology from the University of Washington in 1983 and completed a fellowship in allergy and immunology at the NIH in 1987. She previously held academic faculty positions at Oregon Health Sciences University and Emory University School of Medicine. She has been continuously funded by the NIH, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS), and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation for her work on how innate immune cells regulate the adaptive T cell response in autoimmunity and has published her work in high-tier journals.
Julio Vega is a partner in the corporate practice at Morgan Lewis. He represents public and private companies in a broad range of industries, including biotechnology, medical devices, nanotechnology, advanced materials, software, networking, e-commerce, and fintech. Julio has experience counseling clients on venture capital and other private equity financing transactions, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, licensing, and corporate partnering transactions. He regularly counsels clients on general corporate, employee compensation, and corporate governance matters. Julio is also very active in the representation of startup and emerging growth companies in the life sciences and technology industries.
